In her own room :)

We are on the 15th floor! Laila made her big move today! :) I still am so amazed by her progress. She wasn't even a candidate for surgery initially after her heart cath! We were given such a bleak outlook. We had to spend 2 agonizing weeks thinking she was only going to progressively get worse. God definitely has given some amazing talents to the surgeons here at Texas Children's especially Laila's surgeon, Dr McKenzie. When they were getting her ready for surgery the anesthesiologist was talking with us and she made a point to tell us that every surgeon has their special niche and Dr McKenzie's was valves! In China Laila could have possibly had the Fontan, but no surgeon would do it with her Common AV valve. We are so blessed to live near the #3 hospital in the US for congenital heart surgery. :)

Krissy got to come up and see Laila. It was great! I also got to spend some time with Krissy when Laila was sleeping. Krissy has been so GOOD through all this. I am gonna miss her when she has to go to school next week even though I haven't been able to see her much. When Laila gets discharged from the hospital here we still will have to stay within a one hour range of Houston for a week. So its still a while yet before we get to go back home.

Laila did get out of the bed today and walked to the bathroom. It was quite a feat to figure out how to get her, 3 chest tubes, oxygen, telemetry monitor, and her pulse ox cord not tangled but we did it. She took tiny, baby steps. She looked so cute :) Then as soon as she got back in the bed she fell deep asleep! Of course I just found out she has meds at 9pm, meds at 10pm, vitals at 12am, they want to weigh her at 3am, vitals again at 4am, and then surgical rounds are like around 6am. OH.MY.GOODNESS! Who wants to get up and weigh at 3am? Thats just crazy, but oh well! So it will be a busy night!

:)
