Surgery stuff & Laila's little birdie..

Today we officially are on the schedule for Laila's heart surgery. It will be Dec 29 barring any emergencies that take precendence over her surgery. Also praying that she is totally well and ready to undergo surgery. She will be evaluated on Dec 28 and if we get the all clear we will go back Wednesday early to check her in for surgery. So basically she will be ringing in the new year sporting a new color... PINK! I cannot wait to see what she looks like pink. Tonight she was so blueish/purple and I checked her sats and she was at 77%. (which is her normal) I think the colder weather is making her cold and then she just looks more blue. Get this, cold is like 67 degrees here! So basically we havent even begun to get into winter weather at all!!! Laila is already asking for a space heater at her feet and extra layers. She tells me that she needs 4 shirts on to go outside! She must have helped bundle up the babies where she lived and she knows they are serious in China about layering!!

On a sad note. Laila's bird died today. She was really blase and totally nonchalant about it and went on about her business. However tonight before bed she started crying about her bird. Her "big cry" as she calls it. It was so sad because I can't really comfort or hold her too much because I am sick with a yucky cold (thank you Krissy, my love!) and I dont want to get Laila sick so Daddy had to step in. See Laila knows about death. She has most likely seen more than we can ever imagine in her short life. She had a roomate Fiona that died last year and Laila talks about her OFTEN! Although at first she would just totally flat out ignore pointing to Fiona in pictures, she opened about Fiona about a month after being home. She calls her by her Chinese name and it sounds like "Kwa Han" She died of a heart condition and Laila knows that. Laila also knows that she HAS a heart condition so she tells us that if she doesn't take her medicine she will do like "Kwa Han" and she asks us if we would be sad.... :( So for a 6 year old she has big issues on her mind. Please keep her in your thoughts. She is going to go through a lot in a very short time and she is such a good sport about it all.
